Soyuz TMA-17M departs ISS

On Friday Dec 11, 2015 the crew of Soyuz TMA-17M undocked from the ISS and plunged back to Earth closing a 141 day stay in orbit.

After the successful berthing of Orbital ATK Cygnus OA-4, Soyuz TMA-17M Commander Oleg Kononenko, NASA astronaut Kjell Lindgren and Kimiya Yui from Japan departed the space station making a rare nightime landing in snowy Kazakhstan.

Russian space engineers are now setting their sights on launching three fresh station crew members next Tuesday 15th to boost the lab’s crew back to six.
