The Expedition 43 crewmembers relocated their Soyuz spacecraft to setup the arrival of a new Soyuz crew next week. Departing crew member and new space record holder Gennady Padalka joined by the two one-year crew members Mikhail Kornienko and Scott Kelly performed a manual 25-minute flight from the Poisk module of ISS to the aft docking port of Zvezda on Aug 28, 2015.
The Soyuz TMA-16M departed the POISK module and docked to the aft of the Zvezda Service module.
Approaching to Zvezda
Once relocation was completed, the ISS will be ready for the arrival of the Soyuz TMA-18M which will dock to POISK module and will increase the station’s occupants to nine crewmembers for a short period. This will be the first time since Nov 2013 that nine crew members will be aboard the station simultaneously. Soyuz TMA-18M will bring Expedition 45 crew members Sergei Volkov and visiting members Andreas Mogensen (ESA) and Aidyn Aimbetov (Kazakh Space Agency).
Mogensen and Aimbetov will return with Padalka in the Soyuz TMA-16M that was just relocated.
